TFFN Wire – Thermoplastic Flexible Fixture Nylon
TFFN is a flexible, nylon-jacketed fixture wire for lighting fixtures, control circuits, and appliance wiring in dry locations. It uses PVC insulation with a nylon (polyamide) jacket and is rated 600 V and 90 °C (dry). Where dual-rated by the manufacturer (e.g., MTW/AWM), additional wet/oil usage conditions may apply—confirm on the item’s spec sheet.
Industry Standards & Compliance
- UL 66 — Fixture Wire (TFFN)
- NEC Article 402 — Fixture Wires
- UL 758 — Appliance Wiring Material (when marked)
- UL 1063 — Machine Tool Wire, MTW (when dual-rated)
- RoHS Compliant
Key Features of TFFN Wire
- Rated for 600 V applications.
- Temperature rating: 90 °C (dry) per UL 66.
- Stranded copper conductor for flexible routing (TFN = solid; TFFN = flexible).
- PVC insulation with nylon jacket for abrasion and pull resistance; oil/gasoline resistant where marked.
- Designed for fixture wire duties; may be dual-rated for AWM/MTW on some items.
- Available in small-gauge sizes (see selection table for in-stock gauges and colors).
Common Applications
- Lighting fixtures and luminaire leads
- Control and signal circuits in dry locations
- Appliance wiring material (AWM) where marked
- Machine tool wiring (MTW) where dual-rated
